Dessa AI is a browser-based voice studio that lets you hold a spoken conversation with an AI voice in real time and turn written scripts into natural-sounding speech. There is nothing to install: allow the microphone, pick a voice and start talking.

What is Dessa AI?
Dessa AI is an online voice studio with two tools: Live Talk, a real-time spoken conversation with an AI voice, and Text to Speech, which reads your script aloud and saves it as a WAV file. It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile.
What can I do with Dessa AI?
People talk to Dessa AI to practise a language out loud, rehearse job interviews, think through ideas by talking, or just chat. Its Text to Speech is used for video narration, course audio, podcast intros, ad reads and accessibility.
Is Dessa AI free? How do credits work?
No. There is no free plan, free trial or free credits; usage is paid with credits from a subscription or a credit pack. Live Talk costs 10 credits per minute, counted in 6-second steps, with at least 15 seconds per call. Text to Speech costs 1 credit per 160 characters of script. Subscription credits arrive every month and expire at the end of that month; credit pack credits never expire.
Which model powers Dessa AI?
Dessa AI is built around the Dessa voice model. The Dessa model does not have a public API yet, so for now Live Talk runs on GPT-Live-1 and Text to Speech runs on HeyGen Voice. As soon as the Dessa API is available we will move the studio over to it.
Can I use the audio commercially?
Yes. Speech you generate with paid credits can be used in commercial work such as YouTube videos, podcasts, courses and ads, with no watermark. You are responsible for the script, and you may not use Dessa AI to impersonate a real person.
Is my voice and data private?
Your microphone is only streamed while a Dessa AI call is on air, and we do not keep recordings of your conversations. Captions live in your browser tab and disappear when you leave. Text to Speech files are stored privately in your account and you can delete them at any time.
Which languages, formats and limits are there?
Live Talk has 22 voices and lasts up to 20 to 90 minutes per call depending on your plan. Text to Speech has 24 voices, reads 39 languages (detected from the script) and takes 2,000 to 5,000 characters per script. Speech is exported as 44.1 kHz WAV.
What if a generation fails? Do I lose credits?
No. If a call cannot connect or a script fails to generate, the credits are returned automatically. Dessa AI charges voice calls in 30-second blocks ahead of use, and whatever you did not use goes back to your balance when the call ends.
